In the effort to promote the tourism industy, many contests have been organised by the various agencies to encourage this industry. The most recent one is the Malaysia Flora Photo Contest 2010. All photographers take note that the Malaysia Flora photography contest focusing on Flora, Parks and Garden is on from 1 April 2010 until 31 May 2010.

Shot the recent photograph of flora, parks or gardens in Malaysia, print on Super 8R size (8" X 12") on "Fujicolor Crystal Archive Paper", burned the softcopy in DVD/CD and submit your entries together with the Material Release Form before 31 May 2010 to:

Satu Photography Competition!

Yo yo fellow phlashers! Hope you've been consistently engrossed with your shooting, snapping, and Phlashin'!

Here's an update of moooarrrrrrr competitions to feed those who hunger and starve to snap and win awesome prizes! ^^

Known as the Satu Photography Competition, it is held in conjunction with our country's campaign of the 1Malaysia concept. As this competition is to achieve a unified country that embodies the values of 1 Malaysia through the capturing of photographs, this competition aims to:

1. Raise awareness of cultural acceptance.
2. Take ownership of our rich inheritance.
3. Be transparent amongst the communities.
4. Stay true to our identities.

KTM Komuter Photo Contest 2010!

Here are the Terms and Conditions: (Please Read Carefully!)

  The photo contest is open for all KTM Komuter passengers;
• 
  
  KTMB staff and their close relatives are not eligible to participate;
• 
  
  The photo contest begins on 9 Mac 2010 and ends on the 31 August 2010;
• 
  
  A total of 30 winners will be selected each month (3 main prizes and 27 consolation prizes);
• 
  
  All entries ONLY to be made via KTMB website which is http://www.ktmb.com.my/;
• 
  
  The theme of the photo contest is “HAPPY MOMENTS WITH US”. All photos must be taken either on KTM Komuter trains or at the stations. The condition is to show your happy moment while using the commuter service;
• 
  
  A photo caption that is not more that 10 words is required for each photo submission;
• 
  
  Only digital photographs JPEG files will be accepted for the competition.The JPEG files size must not exceed 1MB and / or within 4R and 5R photo size;
• 
  
  Each participant will be allowed to submit only one photograph for each submission;
• 
  
  Both color and/or black and white photographs are accepted;
• 
  
  Photographs submitted by participants must be entirely their own work. All images must be ORIGINAL and must be taken/clicked by the participants submitting the photographs;
• 
  
  KTMB OWNS ALL THE PHOTOGRAPHS submitted by participants. Participants irrevocably and unconditionally grant the right to KTMB to use/publish the photographs submitted by them for any KTMB events and communication material without cost or whatsoever;
• 
  
  The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entertained;
• 
  
  Winners will be informed by KTMB and all prizes to be collected at KTM Komuter office in KL Sentral.

KL Photo Awards 2010

THIS IS A PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION.

There are two categories in this competition, Potrait individual and Portrait Story,

each with different entry fees,

• * PORTRAIT INDIVIDUAL entrants may submit up to 8 images at USD$10 per image.
• * PORTRAIT STORY entrants must submit a minimum of 5 up to a maximum of 8 images at USD$50 per series.

The entry fee may sound discouraging, but the prizes are super lucrative,

up to 2,500 (RM 8750) USD to be won (1 USD = RM 3.50),

AND your photo will be used for many marketing purposes while you retain your copyright, which means, they have to credit you for using your photos. This is an good opportunity to gain fame as I would say.

AND 1 Year FREE subscription of ArtsMagazine (that book worth 30 USD each) , please lent me the book if you won it,

AND 1 Trophy ( a very cool one, check the page to find out)

IF the entry fee is still a discouraging factor for you to join this competition, TPC will try to ask for discount, BUT I could not guarantee you this. IF there is , I will made an announcement.

Submissions will begin this Monday, 1 March 2010 and closes on Wednesday 31st March. The entry links will become live and you may begin submitting your entries by following the upload procedure.

To prepare your images for upload here are the guidelines :

Preparation of images for submission :
i. 1000 pixels on the width dimension and approximately 250kb per image file. Please verify your file size. (Please DO NOT upload files straight from your camera, they will be too large. Reduce it to a maximum of 250kb each with an image editing program.)

ii. Files to be saved as jpg format, compression High / Adobe Photoshop quality 8 or above.

iii. Files must follow the naming sequence aaa.bbbb.nn.jpg where, aaa is your surname; bbbb is your initials; nn is the number of the entry, up to 8 images per entrant.

iv. Images must NOT contain any of the following: film borders, rebates or key line of any kind, entrant’s names or initials, watermarks or copyright symbols.

PS , I wont be participating in the competition as my SLR was stolen due to recent break in to my house, HOWEVER , I would gladly give guidance and advice to those people who aren't familiar with SLR in their attempt to win this competition. In the meanwhile, I also can hunt for a new SLR.

PS to the pros, I have faith in you. GOOD LUCK. If you need a profession model for your photos,

please let me know, I could find you one or two person. Just don't expect much from me.

PS to the compact camera users, I would advise you to join too, don't worry about the SLR of your competitors , It is the intrinsic emotion in the pictures that counts NOT the camera.

Dear dudes and dudettes ,
It has been a while ,

Digital camera, an UK magazine, has launched a yearly photography competition known as Photographer of the Year.

If you were interested in joining, click on the picture to know how to enter the competition or click here . All you need is just a valid email. Admission is free of charge.

However there is a limit of 5 submission per category, so pick your photos carefully before you submit the pictures.

Yes, this is yet another competition. It's all the rage this season like purple and whatnot.

As usual we'll give u the gist,

Theme: Contemporary Portraits

Open to: photographers from all nations, over 16 years, from full time students, enthusiasts, semi professional to professional photographers.

National Geographic Photography Contest - Visions of Paradise

National Geographic is organizing a contest for their book 'Visions of Paradise'.

Sorry about the miscommunication. We didnt note the fact that its not an internationally open competition. Thanks to Ping for pointing it out. 

Anyways, it doesn't mean we can't learn something! 

Do drop by their website to have an eye opener on what the world's perspective on paradise is. At the same time learn from professionals how they frame their shots. We've seen it and some of their shots are really to die for!
